NTU System

What is NTU System Intercollegiate Course Selection?
National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) collaborates with National Taiwan University (NTU) and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) to form the National Taiwan University System (NTU System). Unlike typical intercollegiate course selection, the three universities share courses every semester (excluding summer session courses) and provide students with a more convenient method of course selection, students can register for courses offered by any of the three universities via their home university’s course selection system directly.

Information on Course Selection
1. Eligibility: full-time NTNU students
*Students of NTU and NTUST should follow the regulations of their home universities.
2. Course selection period: same as NTNU course selection schedule.
3. Relevant Regulations:
According to “NTNU Intercollegiate Course Selection Implementation Guidelines”, the total number of intercollegiate credits taken by NTNU students shall not exceed one-third of the minimum total credits required by their department for graduation. However, this restriction does not apply to students who have NTU System interdisciplinary program, minor, or double major qualification. For more information about course selection and placement at each stage, please see the Notes for Course Selection.
4. How to Register for NTU System Courses?
(1) Students may register for NTU System courses via NTNU Course Selection System during the preliminary course selection period (Stage 1 and 2) and the add/drop period. However, authorization code registrations are only available during add/drop period. In addition, NTU System courses are not available for NTNU students at Stage 1 in fall semesters, please register at Stage 2 or during the add/drop period. Please note that students may add a course with an authorization code issued by the instructor of the course from NTU or NTUST. However, the authorization codes are non-transferable and they should be used according to “NTNU Course Selection Regulations.” Moreover, students may not drop the course once they have successfully added the course with an authorization code, instead they may only apply for a course withdrawal during the midterm.
(2) If students couldn’t see their wish course in the system or the course is fully enrolled, they may contact the instructor or the department offering the course themselves and ask for additional spots. If NTU or NTUST agree to open more spots to the course, the course exchange will be processed between NTNU and the universities. Once the process is completed, students should register for the course during the NTNU course selection period. This process is also applicable for type 1 and type 3 NTU courses (please refer to NTU Course website for further information about the types).
(3) If the course students wish to add requires an authorization code and is available only during the add/drop period, they should obtain the code from the instructor first, then fill in this Google form, and check the processing status on this Google Spreadsheets after 1 to 2 days. When the “Course Exchange” column shows“Done,” students may register for the course on their own during the add/drop period.
(4) Prerequisite rules for NTU or NTUST courses:
1. The name of the prerequisite course that the student has completed must exactly match the prerequisite course name required by NTU or NTUST, including letter case and symbol width.
2. If the student has not completed the prerequisite course or if the course name differs slightly from the prerequisite course name required by NTU or NTUST, they should obtain an authorization code from the instructor to register for the course. For type 1 and type 3 NTU courses, students should fill out the "Unblock Course Request Form for NTU System Courses" and obtain the approval and signature from the instructor, and submit it to the Curriculum Office before the add/drop deadline.
