Chinese Education Division
【Introduction】The General Education Committee of National Taiwan Normal University was established in August 2016 and is affiliated with the Office of Academic Affairs. It serves as the teaching unit responsible for coordinating university-wide courses. The committee consists of four divisions: Chinese Education, Foreign Language Education, General Physical Education, and Logic and Programming Education. The Chinese Education Division is responsible for offering courses in Chinese Critical Thinking and Expression (formerly Chinese Language courses) and Mandarin courses, as well as organizing related teaching activities under the Higher Education Sprout Project.
【Objective】
Language expression is the foundation of all modern life, and humanistic concern is a fundamental quality that modern citizens should possess. The Chinese Critical Thinking and Expression course (formerly known as the Chinese Language course) aims to cultivate students' superior written and oral communication skills through reading and writing. At the same time, it fosters qualities of social concern, logical thinking, situational aesthetics, and a reverence for truth, which are essential for modern citizenship. The course also guides students to experience foundational academic skills such as problem discovery, information organization, discussion and exchange, and rational presentation, serving as the starting point for their future academic careers in university.
